The meaning of “I” doesn’t exist without the meaning of “you”
The meaning of “I” does not exist without the meaning of “you” Personal pronouns themselves conceptually help to understand that we are all the other for someone else. Nevertheless, the term other is becoming a stigma in our societies. The other scares, the other causes self- uncertainties, the other weakens. The issue is not then just conceptual. It becomes a human issue in the way the word other is misrepresented and misleading, having a social impact. Indeed, the concept reproduces dynamics of power. It is used to create boundaries. It is also used to empower one of the sides. In this case, the other is the difference. The other is the imperfect. The other is wrong. Thus, the other is the target of discrimination and reason for deliberate social fragmentation. This is not the reality. Nevertheless, this is how reality has currently been set up. Indeed, there is a wrong representation of the concept. The other is framed as someone against whom to aggregate. Thus, it is preached a way of aggregation against aggregation itself. The word other should not generate negative outcomes. The other is an alternative source. Reject those propagandist and populistic models that refuse the idea and the presence of the other as part of societies and as part of life.
